This dog who was saved from a devastating fate is now enjoying a life with no shortage of TLC.

A short film uploaded to Vimeo called, The Story of Luna, follows the journey of Luna, a dog who was emaciated as a result of neglect in Bonfil, Mexico. Tracy Buye, a photographer for the rescue group, CANDI International, was able to get Luna’s owner to hand over the pup, and got her some much-needed medical attention. Luna was discovered to not only be severely starved, but was also diagnosed with a treatable cancer. Under the care of Dr. Jorge Arturo Dzul Leon, the pup got the treatment she desperately needed and was successfully brought to a healthy state.

The video continues to follow her emotional adoption by the Wittes — a family that lovingly invites Luna into their home and gives her the life she was always meant to have.

Luna’s transformation is truly heartwarming and shows that with some good care and attention, happy endings are possible.
